Just Updated: Weight and Fitness Data for Students in Your Community

The percentage of California 9th graders at a healthy weight or underweight improved from 65% in 2002 to 72% in 2011, according to newly updated data available on www.kidsdata.org.

The percentage of 5th and 7th graders at a healthy weight or underweight has held fairly steady over the past decade (in the 66-70% range).

Weight and physical fitness are closely linked. In 2011, one quarter of 5th graders in California public schools met all state fitness standards. The percentages for 7th and 9th graders were somewhat higher: 32% and 37%, respectively. Find fitness data for your school district or county>>
