Find Data for Your Region
Asthma, the most common chronic condition among children in the U.S., affects 14% of California children ages 1 to 17 -- about 1.3 million kids -- according to asthma diagnoses data from the '09 California Health Interview Survey. Across the state, about 12 California kids per 10,000 ages 0-17 were hospitalized for asthma in 2009, up from a rate of 10 in 2008 but down overall since 2000. These facts are among the highlights from kidsdata.org's recently updated asthma data.
